Chapter 3

I went to college along with my dad to see the college. We went a couple of day’s earlier than the college opening date. And we were standing just opposite to the college and when I asked an auto driver if there was any college here, he simply there was no college with that name. I was shocked as my aunt had just dropped just and left saying that this was the location of the college. Thankfully one gentleman said there indeed was an engineering college there and pointed us the entrance of my college.

As soon as I entered, I had the biggest shock of my life. The first building had the name board of the college and that building was too small to have a name board of a college and that too in the center of the city. I was in total disbelief. For a second I had lost the interest of going to college and there were so many things going through my mind.

Chapter 2

On the day of counseling I was given the slot at 1 o'clock. And just as I went into the hall for choosing my college, I was shocked to find that only single seat was available in the college which I had told before. I was asked to select three colleges and my seat in two of them was confirmed. I was relieved but not my dad, he was anxiously waiting the status of seat in the other college. And the number counted from 32 till 1 and even that seat got confirmed. And I had little hesitation in selecting that college.

One of the main reasons was that it was present in Chennai. And I got the shock of my life just when I browsed through the details of the college that I selected. It was only three years old. I had no clue on how the college would be. But since it was in the Chennai city, I had reasons to feel happy.

Accident

This is one incident that I cannot forget easily in my life. The date was May 2nd and it was around four o'clock in the evening. It was the second birthday of my cousin and we were enjoying ourselves. That was when we decided to go and pick up one of my other cousin's from his grandparents place. So we took the car and just when we were about to leave, my uncle told me that it was not necessary to go and pick him up. But those words fell in deaf years as we started.

And our driver was a well experienced guy and he had been in hour house for quite sometime. And we were going on the national highway and our driver started to put down the accelerator. The speed just kept on increasing and there was a point we crossed the 100kph mark. We were terrified. I was yelling to go slow and that I would complain to my dad. But the driver kept going and just as he tried to pass a lorry. We hit an oncoming car and there was blood all over the place.

Training at Mysore : Part 3

I've been told by my friends to keep my story simple and not to drag it on, so I'm going to finish up my training experience in this post. Though I had only a glimmer of hope, I was determined to do well. I did not tell any of these things to my parents and it was hurting me. I would wake up on the morning of every test hoping that I would clear it but only failure came my way. I kept telling myself 'Even if you don't make the grade life will go on, just make sure that you give your best all the time'.

My friends out there would also try and console me saying 'I deserved better than what I was getting'. And one fine day I managed to clear a test in the first shot. My joy was confined to an extent as I knew there was lot of modules ahead of me. And from there on I did well in all the modules and successfully completed my training.

Looking back, I felt that I had out of a big hole which I fell into. It was all due to me, I put myself into that situation so I had to come out of that. I did not say any of these things to my parents till date.

Training at Mysore: Part 2

The training program was preplanned and all the materials needed was given to us. We never used to study during the college days. Thanks to that habit, I found it quite tough to cope up with the pace of the training. Not that I was not able to understand anything, the fact was everything I learnt there was new to me. Had I studied a little during college, I would have got through them without any difficulty. And I need not say what happened in the first test, I flunked it.

My friends told that I need not worry and there was re-test that was there for those who could not clear the test first time. But the questions will be a lot more difficult for the re-test than the first one. I flunked that too. My misery started there. I went on like this for 6 tests (12 including my second attempts). I went to situation were I was nearly out of the company and I had even started to ponder what I was going to do next. But then there was a glimmer of hope for me, I had to clear all the remaining 8 modules with high scores.

Training at Mysore : Part 1

I was overjoyed when I got placed in campus interview and after our final semester got over, we were waiting for our joining dates. And finally we got the date of joining - July 14th. It was a week after my birthday and we had to do all the pre-joining formalities that were being communicated to us. And we set off for Mysore on July 12th night by train, carrying the wishes of all my other friends who had got into different companies. We reached Mysore the next day morning around 8 a.m. And when we reached the company campus, I was awestruck.

It was such a beautiful campus with fantastic facilities. We were inducted as trainees the next day (July 14th) and one part of my dream had come true by then. And one great aspect was we did not have our tests in the first week of joining itself. The first week gave us time to get used to the place and the new people around us. And the real action started from the second week. Training out there is quite tough and it has been certified equal to a two year B.S degree in USA.

My School Life: Grade Two

The month was June and I was happily waiting for the school to re-open. I was hoping to catch up with my friends and was told at the end of last year that we would be moving to new buildings for Grade Two classes. So I had lot things to look forward to and that was when I got the shock of my life. My parents told me that I was going to be put up in the hostel. I did not know what to do and I started crying. I had never been away from my parents.

In spite of all my protests, I was admitted in the hostel. I still remember that day, I was crying non-stop and one of my uncles was in the last year of his schooling. He would come and console me saying that I can go home in a couple of weeks. The next day was when the school re-opened. I had a tinge of disappointment on my face but on seeing my friends again, it disappeared. As we were told, we moved into one of the new buildings. There were a couple of new joiners and we were ready to start Grade Two.
