Roger Federer has done what no other tennis player has ever done thus far in the history of the game, winning a grand slam title 15 times. It was indeed a special day for the champion as he went past Pete Sampras with Pete himself watching. And his victory was made more special with the fact that it was achieved at the Wimbledon, the home of tennis. It was not a master class from Federer but he dug in and matched Roddick till the last game. It was the only game in which he broke Roddick’s serve and it turned out to be the decisive game.
For me Federer deserves to be crowned the greatest player ever but it was a day when Roddick dominated but still ended up on the losing side. Bad luck Andy!!! Roger, who once again became the world no.1 had some words of caution to his rivals when he said “I am not going to stop. I’ll carry on as I enjoy playing the game”. My money is on Federer crossing the 20 mark.
